Spring 2025 Semester Meetings

SPRING 2025 EVENTS
- The Wolfe Institute is sponsoring the event “A Post-Inauguration Reassessment of US Democracy: A Talk by Jamelle Bouie”
this Thursday, February 20, 2025, 12:30 to 2:00 pm. The event will take place in the Woody Tanger Auditorium in the library. - The CUNY Association of Black Faculty and Staff General Body Meeting is Friday, February 21st @ 3pm via Zoom. Register here.
- The Brooklyn College Circle is hosting a Spring Mixer event on Thursday March 20th, 4pm – 7pm and a membership raffle. More details on BCC events and how to join can be found here.
- The 2025 Hess Week will take place from April 1-4 with scholar Melissa Murray. More on Hess week.

Unity Through Reparations: The December 12th Movement
Location: Jefferson Williams Room, Student Center
Time: 12:30-2 pm
Join us for a presentation and discussion on the historic and current global struggle for reparations with guest presenters: The December 12th Movement. Learn about the demand for a federal executive order downpayment for reparations, the historic Durban Declaration that launched the current reparations moment, and how to get involved in this centuries-long grassroots struggle.

Black Solidarity Day: November 4th, 2024

Cuba in Africa. A Film Screening and Discussion with Producer and Director Negash Abduraham in conversation with Prof. Lily Cerat, Director of CUNY Haitian Studies Association (HSI) Cuba in Africa
Location: Woody Tanger Auditorium, Library
Time: 11:00am – 12:15 pm
Learn about Cuba’s role in liberation movements in Africa, the relationship between current events in Cuba, Haiti, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and how Black Solidarity Day in the US relates to Blackness globally. After the film, there will be a discussion with Producer and Director Negash Abduraham in conversation with Prof. Lily Cerat, Director of CUNY Haitian Studies Association (HSI).

Join us for a special Black Solidarity Day lunch event. Our keynote speaker, the dynamic Charles Barron, former NYC Council Member and a longtime activist for social justice, will share powerful insights on the continued fight for Black liberation. Lunch will be served.
A Call to Student Clubs: Culture and Campus Impact Open Mic Discussion

An open mic discussion moderated by three distinguished alumni! This event offers a unique platform for student clubs to share their experiences, explore the role of culture on campus, and discuss ways to enhance their impact. Whether you’re in a club or just passionate about campus life, come and voice your ideas, hear from alumni, and spark meaningful dialogue on the future of student engagement.
